Wendy Rice

Wendy Rice's first personal encounter with radio was in her hometown of Champaign, Illinois where she wrote and produced a weekly fifteen minute segment on high school news for a local radio station. She was seventeen years old and hasn't strayed from the microphone since. She first learned of WXRT when the program director spoke at her college radio station's spring banquet. That summer (1978), she secured an internship at XRT and set her sights on someday returning to the station's on-air studio. Rice "paid her dues" in Peoria, Illinois at WWCT-FM where she served as Music Director and midday air personality.

Rice successfully obtained her career goal in 1982 when she joined the staff of WXRT, first working overnights and weekends. After nine years of the "late night" shift, Rice is now host and producer of XRT's Saturday Morning Flashback. She also fills in for vacationing air personalities.

Rice attended the University of Illinois in Champaign and married XRT's Vice President of Programming Norm Winer in 1987. They are the proud parents of son Joe and daughters Catherine and Rebecca.

In Rice's spare time she enjoys swimming, cooking, and an occasional competitive game of miniature golf.
