Leslie Witt was born in Chicago, moved away and came back three times, so this must be the place for her. She has always loved music and radio, starting with her dad's solid state RCA. She knew every Top - 40 song on her AM transistor radio as she listened under the covers, then she crossed over to late night underground FM stereo radio. She has spent untold amounts of cash on concert tickets, fanzines, 45's, LP's, CD's, and audio components, and way too much time exploring the vast universe of internet music. Given her life-long fascination with all the above, she's grateful that she has been able to be a weekend DJ at WXRT for all but a year or two since 1978. Along the way she became a full-time mom, seemingly driving carpools ever since.
Leslie attended Deerfield High School just north of Chicago, and went on to the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a summer spent at the University of California - Santa Cruz. Her radio experience includes WIBA -FM in Madison, WI (when it was called Radio Free Madison), WGRG in Pittsfield, MA (before it became automated middle-of-the-road), and as a news reporter at WBEZ, Chicago Public Radio.
Leslie Witt can be heard Saturday mornings from 5 - 8 AM
