Bill Artlip started at XRT as a music programming intern in 1994. He has performed numerous jobs at the station since, which have included being the programming assistant, part of the production staff, Lin's morning show producer and a weekend DJ. A long time fan of XRT, he grew up in the suburb of Bristol listening to 93.1FM and going to as many XRT shows as he could afford. Following graduation from Yorkville H.S. and three years attending Milwaukee School of Engineering, Bill decided to nip out a midlife crisis at an early age by choosing a career that fit his passion for music. Connecticut School of Broadcasting gave him the education to obtain radio gigs as a mobile reporter for Shadow Broadcast Services, spinning big band vinyl at WFXW in Geneva, a DJ for Kenosha rocker WIIL and the music director / morning show co-host at WSUE in the UP's Sault Ste. Marie.
He still lives in the far west suburbs, where he enjoys movies, live music, golf, spending time with friends and adding miles to his car every chance he gets. His first shift on XRT came in August of 1998. "It came as a surprise when Norm gave me the chance to go on the air. I considered it the unobtainable dream. It's hard to believe that I now get to work beside the people that I have admired for years at the world's best radio station WXRT."
Bill can be heard on weekend overnights and filling in at times during the week.
