According to their MySpace page, the Magic Wands come from Fantasy Island, Zaire — which sounds about right given the fact that the duo of Chris and Dexy Valentine first connected over the social networking site while Chris was living in Nashville and Dexy in Los Angeles. By the time they finally teamed up in the real world, it was kismet that they’d throw off musical sparks. Together, they concoct shimmering, dreamy psychedelic pop songs with titles like “Teenage Love” (their debut digital single, released on Valentine’s Day by the U.K.’s Ark Recordings), “Kaleidoscope Hearts,” “Heartbreak Whirl,” “Romantic,” and of course, “Black Magic.”
