It's probably safe to say that if Boston's Bang Camaro and the Polyphonic Spree squared off in a street fight, the 20-some-odd metalheads of Bang Camaro could easily put Tim DeLaughter's fragile army in its place. Sure, both bands take a novel approach to big choral fanfares, but the Spree don't usually call out Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, and Megadeath in their catalog of influences. Considering the size of the band, Bang Camaro's a little light on the instruments; featuring only three guitar players, a bass player, a keyboardist and a drummer, this ensemble packs its hardest arena-rock punch via its 10-20 lead singers for each performance. And it's choruses-only for these guys, who claim that people don't ever recall the verses to songs like "Pour Some Sugar on Me," so why bother with the dull bits? In other words, a Bang Camaro show is all killer, no filler. |
