July 27th - Hands on Cooking Classes - 4 Grains, 4 Ways Each class includes background information on the dishes and ingredients as well as secrets for novice and aspiring chefs. This will be a hands on class, in which you will learn a variety of techniques, such as cutting, cooking, spicing and more. Almost all of the ingredients used are certified organic, as it is the custom at the Lake Side Cafe.

August 1-3rd - Lollapalooza Be sure to visit Green Street, the festival’s eco-education destination, where you can absorb some acoustical tunes in the laid back environment of Unplugged On the Green. Biodiesel generators will power light towers on site, food vendors will provide vegetarian and vegan options, and all leftovers will go to the local food pantry.

August 16 - Chris Isaak at the Morton Arboretum Chris Isaak skyrocketed to stardom with his hit "Wicked Game,". His style has been likened to a blue-velvet throwback to the age of Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison. Isaak has been nominated for two Grammys, and his music has been heard in movies such as Silence Of The Lambs and Married To The Mob.

August 9-10th - Illinois Renewable Energy and Sustainable Lifestyle Fair, Ogle C The Illinois Renewable Energy and Sustainable Lifestyle fair is conducted its 7th annual fair including keynote speakers Tom Casten, Leslie Garrett, and Kamyar Enshayan who will discuss sustainability in business and lifestyle.

August 16th - Rush-Copley Illinois Ride for the Environment Rolling on the River You can help Illinois’ environment by riding in this one day event! Both novice and experienced cyclists are welcome.

July-September 28th - "Flower Power" Summer Flower Show at the Garfield Park Con The summer tropical show will feature showy flowering plants in addition to those selected for colorful foliage. The theme “Flower Power” will be enriched by a soundtrack of hit 60’s and 70’s songs playing in Horticulture Hall that include flower and plant names in them.

October 4th - Climate Cycle, Grant Park, Chicago Raise money and ride along the lake downtown Chicago to help make a difference for the environment. The money raised goes to purchase and install solar energy systems and funds educationalprograms for local schools.
