Originally built in 1927 as a Swedish Convention Center, Metro re-opened in 1982. It first consisted of a smaller space on the 4th floor called Smart Bar. Smart Bar was a dance club mixing a variety of new music at the time, it became an instant success. It later grew to take over the entire builing and Metro found it's home at 3730 N. Clark Street in Wrigelyville. It has since been a place that focuses on talent throughout the nation. It has remanined indepedent and stuck to it's roots since it's opening, and continues to be one of Chicago's premiere and unqiue venues.
93XRT shows featured at Metro have included OK Go, The Hold Steady, Local H, Umphrey's McGee, Ben Kweller, G. Love & the Special, and many more.
